INTENTION

Conceived within the vibrant social fabric of Marrakech, the project explored how storytelling could reveal the invisible emotional geographies embedded within the city. Responding to the distance often created between visitors and local experience, the work invited participants to encounter Marrakech not as spectators, but as temporary inhabitants woven into its rhythms, memories, and rituals. Through conversation, movement, and shared vulnerability, the experience transformed hospitality into a poetic method for cultural exchange, intimacy, and collective discovery.

What happened

Participants moved through a sequence of carefully orchestrated encounters unfolding across hidden domestic spaces, communal meals, and intimate conversations with local residents. Guided through stories, rituals, and shared acts of listening, guests were gradually immersed in the layered histories of Marrakech and the Medina of Marrakesh, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The experience culminated in a symbolic encounter inside a palace, where participants collectively uncovered a hidden narrative concealed beneath the surface of the city, revealing memory itself as both architecture and performance. Each step, negotiation, burst of laughter, and shared cup of tea became part of an ephemeral tapestry of mutual discovery. Through Mystery Behind Walls, walking together became both a political and poetic act: an invitation to enter the hidden life of a place rather than merely skim its surface
