Confessonhário

A dream ritual where strangers transform confession into connection, turning intimacy, listening, and vulnerability into a shared language of care and reflection.

Confessonhário is a participatory performance that explores the shared life of dreams—seeing them not as solitary experiences, but as threads that weave through communities. In this project, dreams are both what we experience when we are asleep at night and the aspirations that drive us by day. By allowing us to hear our own dreams echoed through another’s voice, and by listening to the dreams of others, Confessonhário creates a space for reflection, reinterpretation, and connection. It invites participants to discover how our inner worlds intertwine, revealing the communal pulse of longing, imagination, and desire.

Confessonhário unfolded for the first time in a plush, cocoon-like room at Casa Sonho, where a bed, scattered books, and journals invited visitors to pause, breathe, and dream. Over ten evenings, twelve participants at a time lay blindfolded, speaking long-held dreams to strangers, while others listened and wrote them down from a first-person perspective. Handwritten responses were left anonymously, and roles then reversed. A gentle ritual closed the evening, with dreams read aloud at random, revealing intimate connections. Returning in 2026 to Teatro Municipal, São Paulo, Confessonhário blurred fantasy and reality, offering a rare intimacy: hearing your own dream reflected in another’s voice, discovering that what once felt unreachable might still come true.
